As Simple as the Eye Doctor

I'm standing on a freeway and my responsibilities are like cars racing past me at 70mph.

So much to do. No time. Conflicting priorities. Broken technology. People who won't return my calls. As my responsibilities compound, I was surprised last week when, during my annual eye exam, there wasn't a car on the freeway. I suddenly knew the answers.

Allow me to clarify; I knew the answers to my vision "test".
  • Which card is clearer, the left or right?
  • How many green lights do you see? (Testing my peripheral vision)
  • Tell me when you can read the letters.
  • Do you want to try this new type of contact lens?
I aced my vision test by simply providing a yes or no answer. There was no right or wrong, too slow or questions left unanswered. Everything was simple. For a brief moment I could enjoy feeling like I had all the answers. I could breath.

With my vision and my head cleared, I left the eye doctor only to step back out onto the Interstate.

Everything else is still a blur.
