O Mag Personality Quiz

I know the Oprah magazine's target demographic is +10 years older than me, but they have some interesting articles about being all you can be, without joining the army.

I read the November 2009 issue on a flight and was vindicated by their "Who Are You Meant to Be?" quiz.

The instructions were to read 28 statements and ask myself how true each one was. For example:
  • I like to have the authority and responsibility to make my own decisions.
  • Others depend on me to know what needs to be done (and often, do it).
  • I seek opportunities where I can be in charge of people and outcomes.
  • I often find myself advising others.
The quiz results showed that I can indeed be a control freak! At least I'm consistent! Here's what O Mag says:

Style #7 Striving to be in control

You are a leader:
You approach everything as though you were born to be in charge. Confident, assertive and decisive, you know what you want and go after it. You also look out for family friends and community- you feel you know what's best for them- and have no fear of confronting anyone who changes your ideas. Taking the driver's seat, you also generously donate time and energy to people and neighborhood projects.

What to watch out for:
When you feel threatened, or others refuse to go along with your agenda, you can become confrontational and domineering, sometimes to the point of being dictatorial. Practice someone else taking charge on occasion. Also try meditation...

Looking ahead:
You discover your purpose when you take control of your environment. For you, finding a decision making role is key... In work, you're suited for leadership positions... But you can find satisfaction anytime you're given the autonomy to do things your own way.

So, I'm bull-headed and stubborn, but shit gets DONE!

(Now, I'm off to procrastinate.)
