I Don't Get it

A woman I work with has a clear, glass vase of artificial flowers. The puzzling thing is, she put water in the vase.

Everytime I walk by I wonder if the flowers have grown, or how long it will take the water to evaporate, or why she didn't put them in a solid vase.
