Sea Star Restaurant Review
Have you ever felt jealous of a piece of pie?
Lately I've been obsessed with the smell of coconut. Maybe it's because I want to be roasting in the summer sun; sweating sunscreen and saltwater.
I'll start at the beginning.
I took my man out to dinner at the relatively unknown Sea Star restaurant in Bellevue, WA. We've never been there because we never heard about it, or saw it. It's located in a business area, in a sparkling new building. It was packed with rich Bellevue socialites who liked to be overheard discussing Kobe's wife's wedding ring.
We haven't been fans of oysters in the past, but holy God. We ordered two each and immediately ordered two more. They were just impeccable. We also had frou-frou devilled eggs, but with Ahi on top. I've also been Ahi-obsessed lately; don't know why.
John Howie and Some Good Grub
While perusing the menu I realized that I had eaten fresh crab (that I caught myself) before, but I'd never had king crab legs. And so, for about $75 I was plated with three HUGE crab legs and a rich butter dipping sauce. Again, the king crab was rich and amazing. I was only able to eat one and a half. I decided that they should bring you only what you can eat, because otherwise, you're just wasting all that food! I don't think that crab should have died in vain. I would have found it's death much more enjoyable if someone had eaten the other leg and a half.
Now I'm talkin' crazy.
B chose the coconut cream pie for desert and we shared. When the waitress put the pie down, I just inhaled the coconut. It smelled like a dream. I was jealous of a pie! Was I drunk from my banana- pineapple beverage? Nope. Not even buzzed, and yet I was in love with a pie!
Here's a little about John Howie, the chef. "Chef Howie was the opening chef and driving force behind the popular Magnolia restaurant. Opened in June 1992, Palisade became a landmark restaurant. During his tenure at Palisade he was invited three times to prepare meals at the James Beard House in New York City."
The bottom line? I'd save Sea Star for a happy-hour kind of place seeing as how it's so expensive. But B put it on "the list" which means we're going back!

Sounds delicious! The other day I was taken to possibly the best restaurant in NYC serving south Indian food. It's a little tiny place with zero ambiance, packed with all sorts of Indians which serves the absolute best dosa's. They are just the right size, very inexpensive and are incredibly good. Rad.
